It's almost back to school time, and that means shopping for school supplies and uniforms. But there's a few more things you should add to your back-to-school shopping list and over the next few weeks I will be sharing my back to school must-haves with you.

A Back-to-School must-have: Books

With Summer Break, your kids may have taken a break from reading. Although MacGirl didn't stop reading, she did read less. Now that we're heading back-to-school, it's time to get back on the reading wagon and also hopefully get her reading level back up or surpassed

Howard Eisenberg, author of the "Guess Who" book series understands the importance of reading, especially with kids. Not only does reading build academic excellence and basic speech skills, reading enhances communication skills and promotes more logical thinking. Eisenberg dedicates himself to entertaining young children while providing effective tools to build a foundation for their academic excellence. His books are in rhyme because, as every teacher knows, rhyming makes reading fun and encourages more reading.

In “Guess Who Zoo”, the first installment of the Guess Who series, Monkey steals the keys from a napping Zookeeper and releases all the animals. The book expands a Guess Who Zoo CD that won a Parent's Choice Award and a Parenting Magazine Pick.

In “Guess Who Farm”, Young Mac (Old MacDonald’s son) longs for a farm of his own, but when a trailer load of animals arrives, they refuse to leave the truck until he guesses their names. Young Mac, a terrible guesser, implores young readers to help him start his farm.

In “Guess Who Neighborhood”, the fun begins for two totally bored children when their house-hunting parents discover a unique neighborhood in which the kids get to guess a Snowman, a Playground, a Nanny, and even a Skunk.
