Six Flags Over Georgia: Ten Things Not to Miss

By Erin McLaughlin September 26, 2016
When visiting Six Flags Over Georgia, you’ll want to take special note of the following items that you may otherwise look past. Often when we get the whole family rounded up we’re too busy keeping the kids off of one another, the husband fed, and trying to keep ourselves sane that we miss a few things that could make our day just a little easier.
1. The cheesy bread. This super cheap menu item is easily affordable and a good filler for those in between times when you’re trying to get a few more rides in before the next meal. It’s gooey and good!
2. The log jamboree. Because this ride can be ridden by little ones, often adults pass right by this ride. It’s a great ride that generally has a shorter line, the ride is longer than you expect, and it cools you off without completely soaking you through. It’s one of my family’s favorites.
3. Superhero capes. Yes, these make amazing souvenirs. After all, how many times did your kid play with that balloon you got them? Oh… that’s right. They didn’t. It busted in the car. Six Flags superhero capes are affordable coming in at around $8-10 each. Further, they’re great year round and for halloween! We made sure to pick up a new one for Mac Kid’s upcoming birthday. He’ll soon be faster than a speeding bullet!
4. Misting Spots. Misting spots can be invaluable in the Georgia heat. It’s important that you hydrate yourself with plenty of water but it’s just as important that you don’t overheat, especially little ones, in extremely high temperatures. Six Flags has strategically placed misting spots with misters in different levels of height with a lovely cooling mist that gets your ready to ride again.
5. Tac Salad. Most people, when going to a theme park, tend to eat whatever is available or overindulge. I am on a pretty strict diet and was delighted when my husband discovered Six Flags’ taco salad with fire roasted veggies. It was amazing and needed no dressing at all. Yum!
6. The Six Flags Value Cup. This cup doubles as both a souvenir and a life saver as it comes with free refills throughout your day or the year depending on which color cup you pay for. It’s a fantastic value for a family.
7. Wild West Show. The Wild West Show is perfectly placed right in front of a covered eating area so that you can peacefully eat your barbecue, turkey leg, ice cream, or what have you in the shade as you laugh and clap for this entertaining bunch of cowboys.
8. Kids Rides. Six Flags recognizes that while the Cyclone and Superman may be your favorite rides, your little ones just aren’t quite big enough yet. That doesn’t mean they’re not big enough for their own fun, though! With amazing rides from helicopters to roller coasters all their own, Six Flags has your little ones covered and don’t be surprised when you enjoy the ride, too!
9. Cold Stone Creamery. Just to the left of the Wild West Show is a Cold Stone Creamery that hit the spot with an affordable bowl of ice cream that the whole family dug into!
10. Six Flags’ train and sky ride. Both the train and sky ride can easily get you across the park with very little footwork on your part. When your dogs are barking or your flip flops have flipped, it’s a relief to sit as someone else does the work for you for once.
