We recently celebrated MacGirl's 10th Birthday Party. Since she was turning Double Digits, I wanted to do something extra special. We had a Hawaiian Spa themed birthday party at Once Upon a Fairytale in Lawrenceville, GA. We had a Hula Dancer from Dream Friends Entertainment, photography by Simon Salt, and custom Lilo & Stitch donuts by Donut Worry.
I came across Donut Worry on my facebook feed and noticed the most amazing and detailed Anna & Elsa custom donuts.
I reached out to see if they could make custom Lilo & Stitch donuts since that is one of MacGirl's favorite Disney movies, and it tied in with the Hawaiian theme we had going on. Although they had never made them before, they expertly created 3 designs for the party.
The donuts were the talk of the party. Firstly, because they were customized. Secondly, because of how delicious they were. I loved that I was able to offer something unique and different from the usual cupcakes and cookies.
When I went to pick up the donuts. I was pleasantly surprised. The bland exterior hides a cozy cafe with intimate booths, a drink cooler, handwritten chalkboard menu and a display case filled with a variety of desserts, all hand made daily. According to Nak, all of the pastries and doughnuts are baked fresh everyday — her husband, Ra Mor, arrives between 2 and 2:30 a.m. to have the treats ready before the shop opens.
The shop is family-operated, so it’s common for Owner Channie Nak or her daughter Neenie Mor to greet and help customers. They were both there to greet me and were the sweetest as can be.
You can choose to grab your doughnuts to go or sit down at a table or booth — there is even a drive-thru window for quick service.
Donut Worry offers a variety of traditional doughnuts and pastries and also unique creations like glazed doughnuts topped with Fruity Pebbles cereal, S’mores and Reeses peanut butter cups.
Two popular pastries are the Maple Bacon, a glazed doughnut topped with maple frosting and crumbled bacon and the “cronut,” which is a combination between a croissant and doughnut.
Donut Worry also takes special orders, creating custom specialty doughnuts.
Donut Worry brews Community coffee, available in hot or iced, and also offers cappuccino available in white chocolate caramel, toasted hazelnut and french vanilla.
The name Donut Worry, is cute and catchy, but also very applicable. As soon as I stepped through the doors, I had no worries, except maybe what to choose because everything looked great!
