Native Gardens Review

By Rachel Horlacher May 13, 2019

Native Gardens at Aurora Theatre opened up two weeks ago and we got the opportunity to see it. The premise is there are two neighbors who pride themselves on their own unique gardening styles in their backyards. One couple is in their 60's and Caucasian while the other couple is newly married, pregnant, and Hispanic. From the start you know there will be a clash at some point due to the differences. The play starts with the couples having a nice chat in their backyards and the prejudices start to manifest themselves.

A border dispute ensues where the fence should be between the two properties and the prejudices increase between both sides. There is some mild cussing in English and hard core language in Spanish, so beware if that unnerves you. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable show and would be a perfect date night.

Native Gardens will play at Aurora Theatre May 2 – June 2, with discount matinees on Tuesday, May 14 and 21. Tickets are currently on sale; single tickets start at $20 and may be purchased online at bit.ly/ATNativeGardens or by calling the Box Office at 678-226-6222. For more information on this production or other programming, please visit auroratheatre.com.
