Replay Arcade Reminiscent of Parents' Childhood

By Wendy Paulukaitis, co-publisher of Snellville Macaroni Kid September 27, 2019

I remember as a kid playing video games in the mall. One of my favorite games was the pinball machine.  I remember pulling up a stool and getting my quarters all set up. I knew I'd be there for a few rounds.  I loved watching the flashing lights and hearing the flap of the flapper as I pounded the silver balls back up a secret ramp or got made a cool new thing happen.  This was a favorite past time along with playing the "old" games like PacMan and Galaga. I loved being there and hanging out with my friends and older sister. The cool thing is that this can be a precious memory that you can share with your child. At the Mall of Georgia, there is an awesome Pinball arcade called Replay Arcade. It has a large variety of pinball machines, ping pong table, 2 Foosball tables, and a Classic arcade machine which features games like Galaga, Pac Man, Centipede, Space Invaders, Frogger, and more.

My 11-year-old son and I spent two hours (YES, two full hours) playing and enjoying each other. It was fun trying out each machine and trying to see each other's high scores. Just like the kids enjoy watching each other for hours playing Minecraft, I fully enjoyed watching my son play. He, in turn, would watch me play. This is a day I am sure we will talk about for years to come!

One thing I really liked was the variation in the types of pinball machines. There were some modern interactive ones with a screen that was a part of the game.  There were others where the game taunted you (in a spirit of the game manner) which I actually liked because it brought out the inner competitor in me.  There was another that was simple but still challenging. I also really liked the variation in the themes of the games. There was Munsters, Hook, Beetles, Fishing, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, Star Trek, and so much more.

My son said when we first got there his 11-year-old mind (he never played pinball before) was unsure about there mostly being only pinball machines. But within minutes this kid was hooked! He was bouncing from game to game looking like a pro. He even earned 6 free games! I was shocked at how quickly he caught on. He didn't want to leave and keeps asking me when will I take him again. Soon because I seriously enjoyed just being with him and doing something we could share together.

I really think this would be a great place to take your family. It is clean, manageable, and easy to get to. There is a restroom and a drinking fountain.  There is a game card you can use to charge up so you don't need to worry about quarters.  There is something for everyone I would say 5 and up to do. There are step stools for the little ones to stand on and of course stools to sit on. I would even consider having a birthday party or a home school hang out session. So if you are looking for something fun and different to do with your family head over to Replay Arcade for a little retro fun.

   Birthday Parties

RePlay Arcade offers a great deal for Birthday Parties. For $250 (MON -THURS) or $300 (FRI-SAT-SUN), you can book a private party for up to 20 players. You get 1 hour of free play and 30 minutes for celebratory food & cake. The best part is that you can bring your own food or they can order pizza for you. Your choice.
