Tennessee Valley Railroad Offers Fun in the Mountains Year-Round

While my family was in Chattanooga last month, we couldn't pass up the chance to ride on the Tennessee Valley Railroad. There are several train rides to choose from and several that are geared for the holidays. We chose the Halloween Eerie Express train ride. Upon arrival at the train station, there was a free petting zoo with additional pony rides for a small fee. There is a station with snacks, which you're allowed to take onto the train, as well as bathrooms and a gift shop inside. The exciting place to be was the platform when the train came in.

The inside of the train was decorated, not scarily, for Halloween, and the kids had a delightful time looking at the decorations and the various colored-lights. The train ride was only ten minutes long to take us to a Halloween Fun House where the kids had a storytime, coloring, putt-putt, and a funhouse to walk through. They also offered complimentary warm cider and lots of candy.

After the activities, every kid got to take home a mini pumpkin to decorate with stick-on eyes and faces as well as more candy, so you know the kids were happy. The train ride was the perfect length of time for my rambunctious children who don't like sitting still for long periods of time.

The Tennessee Valley Railroad offers several options of train rides throughout the year, the most popular being the North Pole Limited in the  Christmas Season. You can find out more information by visiting their website and booking tickets online.
