September promises to be an unforgettable month at the Lawrenceville Arts Center, home of Aurora Theatre! Audiences can anticipate a captivating and inspiring month featuring a spectacular lineup of theatre performances, concerts, comedy shows and much more. Aurora Comedy Nights is set to showcase Dad’s Garage Comedy, promising uproarious laughter and comedic brilliance. "Black Barbie: A Documentary" will take viewers on a thought-provoking journey, delving into artistry, identity, and cultural significance. Families can enjoy the enchanting Mago Junior Show at Aurora Children's Playhouse, a FREE showing of the beloved movie “Trolls” and the captivating fusion of technology and storytelling in The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Gen – a surefire recipe for delightful entertainment across all ages. The inclusion of art from all cultures continues with the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month through Nuestras Voces: Feria A La Comunidad, as well as Aurora Theatre’s first ever K-POP concert, TAN: 2nd USA Tour.

"Black Barbie" provides an insightful exploration of the diversification of the iconic pop-culture figure, revealing the real story behind the transformation through the perspective of Mattel insider Beulah Mae Mitchell. The documentary sheds light on the intersection of merchandise and representation while highlighting the empowering journey of Black women to amplify their voices and stories. Southern Circuit Tour is funded in part by South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

Audiences are invited to revel in comedic brilliance as Atlanta's premier improv ensemble makes its return to Lawrenceville. Guests will be delighted by Dad’s Garage’s signature fast-paced scenes and on-the-spot games, fueled by audience suggestions, creating a side-splitting, spontaneous evening of humor. Reminiscent of "Whose Line is it Anyway?", this show features Atlanta's most skilled improvisers, ensuring a night of uproarious entertainment like no other.

Having graced numerous live performances across metro Atlanta, including appearances with the Atlanta Braves, his captivating presence and talents are not to be missed.

The duo teaches them the true source of happiness while discovering the importance of friendship and embracing their differences.

Lightwire Theater, featured on “America's Got Talent,” presents "The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Gen." The timeless Aesop's fable is taken to the next level, catching up with the iconic duo a decade later as they navigate contemporary distractions while raising their children, promising a modern twist on a classic tale.

TAN, which stands for “To All Nations”, was formed on the South Korean survival show “Extreme Debut: Wild Idol”, where the top seven would form the group to become next K-POP sensation. On August 11, TAN dropped their third mini album “Tan Made” with their title track “Heartbeat”. After a phenomenal first US tour, TAN is excited to be back in the states with a 5-city tour, which includes the Lawrenceville Arts Center.

Fall Classes 2023
Sept. 1 – Dec. 27
Aurora Theatre Academy is offering classes for rising stars of all ages and interests. September classes for elementary students include Bring Down the House: Aladdin Bilingual, which will strengthen students’ performance and language skills, Mini Acting: Despicable Me and Master Acting: Night at the Museum. For middle and high school students, offerings include the class Stage Combat: Harry Potter and the opportunity to dive into Into the Woods through a special workshop that runs on Wednesdays from Sept. 20 – Nov. 8. Adult Improv will be offered in September and October.
