Children’s Museum of Atlanta Highlights the Life of Dr. King

By Children's Museum of Atlanta January 12, 2024

Everyone is an inventor at Children’s Museum of Atlanta this January! Guests are invited to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with special events throughout MLK Day Weekend. Families will follow in Dr. King’s footsteps as they learn about his leadership in the civil and environmental rights movements, practice building bridges and hear his dream for America. Throughout the month, families are invited to tap into their creative side with Kid Creator programs, during which children can hear stories written by kids their age, learn all about the world of germs, paint self-portraits and build hero robots.

January Special Programming:
Kid Creators
Through Tuesday, Jan. 30 except Jan. 13 - 15
The Museum highlights the amazing accomplishments of “kid creators” through readings of works by young authors and programs designed around their creations. Little ones are invited to partake in activities ranging from building their own rescue robots to unlocking the powers of magnetism.

Art Studio
Creations of self-portraits allow kids to unlock their inner artist.

Building Blocks
Litte ones take “kid creators” to a new level as they paint their own masterpieces, leave their mark on their environment with (washable) stamps and show off their best puppet dance moves during the Friday Jam session. Additionally, participants will learn about magnetism and sort items using the magic of magnets.

Outside the Box
Children and families are invited to experience Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s first featured exhibit starting Saturday, Jan. 20 through Sunday, May 5. Simple cardboard boxes are transformed into bridges, ordinary cylinders become futuristic rockers and basic blocks create exciting obstacle courses. First opened in 2014, Outside the Box ignites the creative spark in adults and children alike, encouraging innovative thinking while uncovering the foundational elements of math, engineering, and technology.
