Hanukkah, also known as the festival of lights, is an 8-day Jewish holiday that is celebrated around the world.  According to the lunar calendar, it is observed in November or December. In ancient times, the Maccabean army entered a Holy Temple and found one small drop of oil for the lamp. Hanukkah is celebrated because the small drop of oil miraculously kept the lamp lit for 8 days! Children can listen to “The Hanukkah Hop!” by Erica Silverman, and then make a Hanukkah banner.

Meet the Holidays: Christmas

Today, Christmas is a time for family and friends to get together, exchange gifts and celebrate Jesus.  Children can listen to the story “The Spirit of Christmas” by Nancy Tillman, and then make cheerio candy canes!
