Disney on Ice: World's of Fantasy Review

May 22, 2015
I love Disney, and everything Disney-related. I especially love Disney on Ice and have been to every show that has passed through Atlanta since 2008. MacGirl's first show was Worlds of Fantasy, but it was a little different back then. They've since replaced Lion King with Toy Story. But it's still one of our favorites. Well, they are all our favorites if I'm being honest.

Worlds of Fantasy has something for everyone and even seasoned Disney-on-ice fans will be impressed by Cars on Ice! Although this is our 3rd time seeing this particular DOI show, MacGirl is still as excited and intrigued as the first time.
The iconic Mickey and Minnie cruise in on a red car that promptly breaks down. The whole audience is already cheering, and not because they are sadists, but because they know what that means! Mater the tow truck followed by other Cars' characters parade on stage to the tune of "Life is a Highway", finally cumulating with the appearance of Lightning McQueen. Not only did the cars drive on ice, they blinked their eyes, uh-headlights, and even moved their mouths, uh-front grills. I have no idea how the cars' wheels were able to turn and spin as they did! It was the real deal. Don't expect 2 men in a horse's costume!
Once the car is fixed everyone rolls away, but Goofy, silly and clueless as always, arrives late with a bucket of water to cool the car down. He spills it on the ice, and it really is water.. and no one comes to clean it up. I was quite worried that a skater would slip and fall, but none did, although there were over a dozen on stage with the transition to "The Little Mermaid".

Ariel's story is told in three swift songs, She longs to be “Part of that World,” then Sebastian takes us “Under the Sea,” and lastly Ariel trades her voice to Ursula the Sea Monster, but regains it with “Kiss the Girl.”
Tinker Bell and her adventure in Pixie Hollow wraps up the first part of the show. We meet Queen Clarion flying high above us and all of Tinkerbell's fairy friends. There were many Tinkerbell related merchandise for sale at the concession stands, surprisingly more so than Toy Story which took up the entire second part of the show. You could find flower hats with your cotton candy, tote bags great for gathering with your popcorn purchase, fairy spinning light-up toys, and even light-up fairy wings. For the previous World's of Fantasy show MacGirl had dressed up as Tinkerbell. She has also been Ariel. This year she was Minnie Mouse.
The entire second act is devoted to “Toy Story 3” and the toys’ escape from Sunnyside Daycare. The GI Joes make an appearance, as well as some of Andy’s favorite toys, including Slinky, Hamm, Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead, and Rex, along with the trio, Woody Buzz, and Jessie. One of the highlights of this story is Ken’s hilarious runway routine, as well as his skating with Barbie, which featured some amazing lifts and spins. They really did a great job of capturing Barbie and Ken's personalities and look (Ken's hair was the real deal, as is plastic!). I'd love to see them in Disney World, or have a spin-off movie!
With opening night tickets as low as $18, I think it was worth it. It was better (and cheaper) than watching a 3D movie! The costumes, music, skating choreography, acting, and overall experience was great.

As of this post, there are no Disney on Ice shows lined up for Atlanta - gasp! But make sure you're subscribed to us, and Disney on Ice for the latest news, presale and discount codes and giveaways.
