Paint you Pinky Blue with ZENDAYA! #meanstinks

Join this Anti-Bullying Campaign to empower girls #gangupforgood

October 17, 2013
My daughter and I recently won a contest by Q100 for a meet and greet with Zendaya Coleman. She is probably most known for her Disney Channel show "Shake it Up", most recently being a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars", and currently for her debut Album "Zendaya" with her hit Single "Replay".

After her on-air interview with the Bert Show on Q100, she joined us for an Ice Cream Party, a Q&A where the kids in attendance (my daughter included) were able to ask her questions, a photo opp (with hugs, high-fives, & silly faces), and even gave us an autograph picture!

She is overall a great role-model and there are so many wonderful things to say about her, but one thing that struck me is that she is currently promoting an anti-bullying campaign via social media, and among pre-teens and teens in a way they can relate - with fashion; paint your pinky nail BLUE.

Zendaya has a message for all young girls, and it's a serious one. In support of the Mean Stinks Anti-Bullying campaign, Zendaya and some of her friends recently painted their pinkies — yep, only their pinky fingers — bright blue.

She wrote to all her ZSwaggers (her fans) on Instagram, "Girls...we need to stick together and build each other up not break each other down...paint your #bluepinky to show your support... #meanstinks." To learn more about Zendaya's involvement with Mean Stinks, click here.

My daughter and I are joining the #meanstinks campaign, and painting our pinkies blue, I hope you and your little one(s) will too!

Other celebrities, like Demi Lovato, are behind this campaign as well. Demi, known for her "Camp Rock" movies with the Jonas Brothers, Princess Protection Program with Selena Gomez, her hit tv-show "Sonny with a Chance", her Music Career and most recently, as a Judge on X-Factor, has been a long-time supporter of Anti-Bullying, and was named a #meanstinks Ambassador.

While recent focus has mainly been on horrible role models for our children, keep in mind that there are GREAT role models out there!
